Awards presented during global convention in July
SAN DIEGO, August 1, 2007 – Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. (MBE), franchisor of The UPS Store®, recently recognized two franchisees and two area franchisees for their remarkable accomplishments and service to the network. Bob and Sharon Tate from Kearny, Missouri, were awarded the "Franchisee Excellence Award," and Rick and Judy Milner from Gainesville, Virginia, were awarded the "Area Franchisee Excellence Award." Both awards distinguish the recipients as leaders in the network.
Bob and Sharon Tate, who opened their The UPS Store in 2004, were honored with the "Franchisee Excellence Award" for their outstanding achievement in marketing, sales, operations, training and networking. "As small-business owners, the Tates understand the importance of exceeding expectations, and they are always looking for opportunities to show their dedication to their associates and customers," said MBE President Stuart Mathis, describing the husband and wife team. "Whether it is hosting a retirement party for their UPS driver or promoting a Toys for Tots coloring contest, the Tates regularly demonstrate their commitment to the community.
"They take pride in running their center, and build their business on trust, quality, reliability, and the highest ethical standards. They show respect for the network, the company, their customers and their fellow franchisees."
Showing respect for and supporting franchisees is exactly what the recipients of the "Area Franchisee Excellence Award" have done over the past 10 years. Rick and Judy Milner, area franchisees in northern Virginia, were honored with the "Area Franchisee Excellence Award" for their outstanding achievement in sales, area development, and franchisee support and training. In addition to their duties as area franchisees, Rick and Judy both serve on franchisee committees that advise the national network on issues important to the business.
"Rick and Judy are personally involved in the lives of each of their area’s franchisees. They are constantly building vital relationships as our network grows and expands," said MBE President Stuart Mathis. "Having started both their MBE careers within the corporate offices provides them a unique and comprehensive perspective."
MBE also honored several other outstanding franchisees and associates with awards, including:

- Bill Hendrickson of Tampa, Florida - 2006 Domestic Area Franchisee Associate Excellence Award
- Shawn Sprately of Overland Park, Kansas - 2006 Entrepreneur Award
- Mario Iaccarino of Newport News, Virginia - 2006 PACE Award
- Tripp Singer of Manhattan, New York- 2006 Humanitarian Award
- Ernie and Nancy Newland of Manassas, Virginia - 2006 Customer Excellence Award
- Ron and Teri Milner of Gainesville, Virginia; Mike Shaginaw of Orlando, Florida; and Danielle Phillips of Fort Collins, Colorado – 2006 Certified Trainer Excellence Award
- Davender, Ketan and Neeraj Seth of New York, New York - 2006 MBE Leadership Award
